This is a demand I have been making for a long time, and my students in digital capture courses know it well. Why don’t manufacturers do something that’s obvious? If the camera shoots in RAW, and that’s exactly what thousands and thousands of photographers around the globe use, why do they insist on giving us the JPEG histogram, even when we shoot ONLY in RAW?

That doesn’t help us! They seem to be still living in the last century, when the first digital cameras were already offering the RAW but only as an “added feature as a gift” but almost without support, and with many drawbacks.

Gentlemen manufacturers, this is 2018. The cameras have the computing power to display the histogram in RAW even in real time (let alone after shooting), and that’s what we want. How many more years will we have to wait for you make it a reality?

Why do they keep making cameras like film cameras, but with a sensor, and a RAW “gift” instead of turning the tables and making the RAW the epicenter of everything and not the JPEG?
